“Shouting ‘self-care’ at people who need community care is how we fail people.” Nakita Valerio
Wellness and self-care are often packaged as things an individual can consume in order to feel well amongst the stresses and strains of modern living. But we’d argue that a culture in which we can all be truly well is neither individualistic nor consumerist; in fact, these ways of being are actually getting in the way of us creating collective wellbeing for people and planet.
What does wellbeing mean within the context of today’s world? How can we push back against the marketisation and individuation of self-care, while also making space for us to truly care for ourselves, each other and the world around us? And ultimately, what is a truly sustainable and transformative approach to wellbeing for all?
Hosted by The Resurgence Trust and the Network of Wellbeing (NOW), this event will include talks from these visionary speakers, space for discussion and an interactive Q&A. Part of the Resurgence and NOW Hope in Action series, it will be an exploration of how we can maintain hope, wellbeing and resilience while co-creating a brighter, more beautiful future.
