What to expect
We’re gathering to celebrate Lammas, one of the seasonal festivals on the Wheel of the Year. Lammas is the midpoint between the summer solstice – the longest day of the year – and the autumn equinox, and is associated with harvest, gratitude, and release.
This workshop invites you to take time out, making space to slow down, be grounded, and connect to nature.
We’ll begin with a gratitude walk through Ashton Court Estate, a national Site of Specific Scientific Interest, rich with wildflower grasslands, woodlands, ponds, ancient oak trees, and deer. We’ll pause along the way to notice the details of the landscape, collect natural materials, and capture moments through writing, sketching, and reflection.
You’ll receive a beautifully crafted journal created especially for this workshop by local maker Izzi, of Dusted Sunshine Sketchbooks (www.etsy.com/shop/dustedsunshine). You’ll start your nature journal by writing, drawing and collaging in it during the workshop, then take it with you to continue your own creative rituals at home.
Beth Calverley, an amazing local poet, will be joining us to support you in writing poetry along the route, offering moments of inspiration, stillness and perspective as we move through the space.
After the walk, we’ll gather in the café space to reflect, write and shape what you’ve gathered into something meaningful, whether that’s poetry, journalling, or simply quiet observation. There will also be time to buy refreshments from the cafe, which serves locally sourced, healthy and sustainable food and a great selection of hot and cold drinks.
Together, we’ll honour themes of gratitude, abundance and gentle release, taking time to recognise what you’ve grown, and what you’re ready to carry forward or let go of. Expect a calm, welcoming space to slow down, connect with nature, and share the meaningful seasonal festival of Lammas with others.
