Spring has turned into Summer with a record-breaking ferocity! Surface temperatures hit 35 degrees in Kew Gardens this week – a full two degrees higher than the previous UK record temperature for May, set in 1944. Devon wasn’t so warm but, like many, I rushed to find a shady place under a tree. The heatwave was a reminder of the reality of man-made climate change and also perhaps another wake up call – of many – that might encourage us to choose greener, less polluting ways of being. That’s why I’m pleased to share the latest opportunities for personal growth, rest and recuperation at Eden Rise, our haven for wellbeing in the Devon countryside.

Where better to be, if the summer is sizzling, than two 19th century barns with thick walls and high, gabled ceilings? Throw in a garden, a little surrounding woodland, pleasant company, some bell tents and perhaps a shady walk to a nearby brook, where you can swim, and you have the recipe for a perfect English getaway.
There are a wealth of opportunities to get away to Eden Rise this summer – perhaps to meditate, to learn a little yoga or to explore your life purpose in a safe supportive space. You can even learn to paint en plein air.
Tristan Dorling kicks off next week with Stillness and Ecstasy: the art of merging silence and Euphoria – seven days of meditation with singing practices. Later in the month, Nicky Mason and Emma Dibben gather in the light with yoga and sound, over three days just after the Summer Solstice. At the close of the month, Sky Chapman and Susie Ro return for Voice alchemy and Qigong.
Then in July, Susie Howard and Sven Werner of Wise Fools return for The Shadow – a follow up to their Hero’s Journey over six nights before Megan Avery offers for a week of yoga later in the month..
Cath Burke of Empathy Matters is back with Finding your Flow: getting fluent in NVC: Level 2 Training in non-violent communication with music and dance in mid August while Natasha Goldson kicks off the Autumn with Finding Eden – five days of yoga, meditation and reflection in early September.
Then Viola Hortova and Ruby Standsted come down for Open Skies a four-day immersive retreat centred around plein air – the practice of creating in the open air – as a way to reconnect with creativity, presence, and the natural world around you.
